Tina Ahuja Faces Backlash Over Comments on Period Pain: Reddit Users Call Her Remarks 'Ridiculous'

Tina Ahuja, daughter of Bollywood actor Govinda and Sunita Ahuja, has stirred controversy with her comments on period pain during an interview with Hautterfly. She claimed she has never experienced period cramps and dismissed the struggles of other women, attributing the issue to psychological factors and lifestyle choices.
What Tina Ahuja Said About Period Pain
In the interview, Tina remarked, “I have lived in Chandigarh most of the time, and I’ve noticed that only girls from Bombay talk about cramps. Many women in Punjab and smaller cities don’t even realize when they go through menopause. Half the problem arises from these circles where women talk about cramps, which sometimes causes others who don’t experience them to feel it psychologically.”
Tina added that her own health has been unaffected, claiming, “Maybe my body is a little desi. I’ve never had back pains, and my cycle is regular. Girls should stop dieting excessively, eat their ghee, and sleep well. These Instagram trends and diets create problems that don’t even exist.”
Sunita Ahuja Weighs In
Tina’s mother, Sunita, echoed her daughter’s sentiments, emphasizing the importance of a balanced diet. She suggested including a daily spoonful of ghee for overall health but added a disclaimer for viewers to consult their doctors and not blame her for any adverse effects.
Reddit Reacts to Tina’s Comments
Tina’s remarks quickly drew criticism on Reddit after a clip of the interview was shared with the caption, “Period pain is not real, guys! Trust Govinda’s wife and daughter.”
Users expressed their outrage:
“It might be different for every woman, but dismissing it altogether is absurd.”
“Ignorance worn as pride—these comments are tone-deaf and offensive.”
“Pain levels vary greatly from woman to woman. Dismissing someone else’s experience is just plain wrong.”
Others criticized the privilege in Tina’s perspective:
“Being raised in luxury doesn’t qualify you to invalidate someone else’s pain. This boils my blood.”
“I’ve never heard anything more ridiculous. Everyone’s body is unique.”
A Larger Conversation
The backlash has ignited broader discussions on the diversity of women’s experiences with menstruation and the importance of empathy. Tina’s comments have been widely criticized for generalizing and dismissing the struggles of many women, further highlighting the need for greater awareness and understanding of women’s health issues.
